Here is what you can expect out of each age group.

Non-competitive (age groups 5-8 & 9-12)

For the 5-8 year-olds our focus is for them to have fun in an environment that feels safe and they can “show off” their skills.  That being said, we are parents ourselves and we know that you’d like to see how your child performs.  We will be giving each kid a copy of their scorecard at the end of the day so parents and kids can have a keepsake and parents can see how their child performed.

For the 9-12 year-olds, this group is kind of a hybrid between the non-competitive 5-8s and the competitive 13+.  We will not be publishing a leaderboard online because we want to ease the pressure on this age group.  We also want to recognize they are older and a little friendly competition is not bad but encouraged.  That being said, we will give each child/parent a printed copy of overall rankings from the day so parents can have this as a keepsake and see how their child fared compared to the rest of the group.

Competitive (age groups 13-14, 15-16, 17-18)

We will run this similar to our adult competitions.  We will have an online leaderboard that will be updated throughout the day so you can check your child’s ranking after each WOD is calculated and entered in the computer.  We will also have awards for each 1-3rd place in each age group for each gender.  At the end of the day we will have an awards ceremony and you’ll be able to take pictures of your kids!

We hope you all recognize the fact that we are trying to do what is developmentally and physically appropriate for each age group while also keeping the spirit of competition alive!  This is our first year for this event and our first kids/teens competition so feedback is always welcomed!
